CONSULTATION PREPARATION

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORMS:

Thank you for your interest in scheduling a consultation!

If anything below is confusing, click here to ask Mark for clarification on what you should do

[If you are not seeking to hire this office for services related to possibly filing a bankruptcy case, or you are a corporation or partnership, please click here for instructions.  Do not complete the 5 steps at this time. ]

For everyone else (those considering filing a bankruptcy case in California), to get started please  read the information below and then simply click on each of the steps 1 through 5  below, (or to the right), and complete all the Steps and schedule your appointment.   You must complete all the Steps before scheduling your appointment.

It's Simple and it's Fun!  (OK, it's not really that fun, but it IS important)

Step 1:  General Information

Step 2:  Income Form (Submit Twice if Married)

Step 3:  Expense Form (Submit Twice if married and living apart)

Step 4:  Information to Have Ready to Discuss at your Appointment

Step 5:   Once you have completed these steps,  please go to  Step 5 (or click on "Step 5" to the right) to schedule your own appointment online.  You need to schedule your appointment regardless of whether you want an office or telephone consultation.

Note: Before starting it is a good idea to take a look at each step to see what you information you will need.  It is best to complete all the steps forms at one time  (If you do not receive any e-mails from me within 2 hours of submitting the forms, check your spam folder or give me a call. You will get an e-mailed auto-response--with important information--after each form you submit.  You should read these e-mails)  Thank you!!

I understand

and sympathize with how anxious many of you are to even look into the possibility of filing bankruptcy and how this is the last thing you wanted to do.  I respect that you have taken this step and I take your financial situation seriously

The purpose

of the consultation is for me to discuss your situation with you and, based on information you provide to me, determine if bankruptcy is the best solution to your present financial problems and for me to explain to you the costs and benefits of doing so, including providing you with a fee quote and explaining the different options available to you.  I take your financial situation very seriously and the consultation is thorough.  Therefore, in order for me to accurately assess your situation, it is important that I have all relevant information when we have our consult. That is why it is important to complete all the forms and provide me accurate information.

I promise

to make the entire process as comfortable, friendly, and easy-to-understand as possible.

No Obligation:

Having the consultation and completing the forms does not obligate you to do anything, including filing bankruptcy.

Office or Phone Appointments:

Your consultation can either be done over the phone or in my Burbank office (Any fees paid for the consultation will be applied towards any future fees should you decide to retain me for further services).  The consultation content is exactly the same for either. Don't let distance be a factor for you.  Let me know which you prefer.

Important!!   If you have spam filters or blockers on your e-mail, you must add my e-mail address, bklawr@bklaw.com, as a "friend" or allowed address BEFORE you submit any of the forms.  Otherwise, you will not receive the autoresponses containing instructions and other necessary information that you will need to schedule your appointment. This especially applies to COMCAST and EARTHLINK users!!

This is a secure server and all data that you submit is encrypted, confidential, and safe.

Consultation Costs:

The initial consultation by telephone is free for the first 30-minutes.   This is the preferred method by most of my clients.  It is also another reason that it is important to submit all relevant information to me ahead of time so we can maximize the effectiveness of the consult.  Anything paid for the consult will be applied towards any future fees, should you decide to retain me for further services. If you prefer an office consult, that is fine too--just let me know--but there is a nominal charge (usually $150) for that, which is applied towards any future fees.  (more complicated cases may require longer appointments)

Using these online forms is the most efficient (and preferred) way to prepare for and handle your initial consultation.  However, if you are unable to complete these online forms, or are simply uncomfortable doing so,  please contact me to discuss alternate means which work for you.

Please Note: This is not a punishment.  I understand that this is a lot of information to gather and complete.    I sympathize with how invasive and burdensome this may seem and I promise to make the process as painless as I can.  Congress has made eligibility for bankruptcy contingent on numerous specific factors, and there is simply no way to properly assess your options without having all the necessary information related to those factors.   In truth, many clients find it very beneficial to go through this process even if they decide not to pursue bankruptcy, because it forces them to take an accurate look at their true financial picture.  Please feel free to see how some of my former clients have felt about my representation over the years by clicking here

After you complete each step, you will automatically be taken to the next page.
